Thank you x

WOW. Thank you to everybody who ensured that Twisterella 2016 totally and utterly exceeded expectations. Let’s do it all again next year, yeah? 100 early bird tickets are on-sale now from SEE Tickets:

There’s too many people to thank, but we should start by saying a huge thank you to everybody who bought a ticket and came along to enjoy an awesome day of live music in the heart of Middlesbrough. You’re the best. Every single one of you.

The festival is the culmination of months of hard work from Pay For The Piano and The Kids Are Solid Gold, but seeing so many people buzzing off the bands we’ve booked makes it all worthwhile.

Without the support of forward-thinking Teesside-based companies, organisations and individuals who share our commitment to making our town the best it can be, there’s no way we would be able to make Twisterella happen – so we really can’t thank them enough. Please check out all of our partner venues, sponsors and patrons and support them throughout the year:

We’d also like to extend a warm thank you to all of the (Un)Conference panelists, stage managers, sound engineers, photographers, videographers and venue staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day.

Last, but by no means least, we’d like to say a MASSIVE thanks to every single band who played yesterday – you were all absolutely brilliant, both musically and as people. It was a pleasure to bring so many unbelievably talented, genuine and humble acts to Twisterella and we’re sure that we’ll be seeing a lot of you back on Teesside again over the coming months…

Clean Cut Kid // Frankie & The Heartstrings // WHITE // Kingsley Chapman and The Murder // Eliza Shaddad // Mouses // Youth Club // Flight Brigade// October Drift // Marsicans // Gill Landry // Forever Cult // Stereopol //Cape Cub // TRASH // Natalie McCool // Beezewax // Joseph Hammill fromCattle & Cane // FOREIGNFOX // AVALANCHE PARTY // Tongues. // The Van T’s // Jordan Mackampa // Zach Said // Drifts // Coquin Migale // A Festival, A Parade // PLAZA // LUUNA // Fletcher Jackson // Tom Joshua //Tough Tits // Alistair James // Samantha Durnan // The Black Sheep Frederick Dickens // Hold Music // Major Matilda // James Gray Robson & The Lovely Burn // Jister // James Leonard Hewitson & Dressed Like Wolves

All of our local acts deserve a huge amount of praise too – is this the strongest the Teesside music scene has ever been? The quality from the regional acts yesterday was phenomenal and showed that it’s no coincidence that many of them are starting to make waves nationally now too. Long may it continue.

We should probably mention that there’s plenty more great gigs coming up in Middlesbrough over the next few months, so we hope to see you at some of the following:

Matt Berry & the Maypoles at Teesside University SU – Sat 29 Oct (TKASG)

Gengahr + support – Thursday 1st December – Westgarth Social Club

Meilyr Jones + Winter Hill Transmission & Plastic at Westgarth – Friday 9th December

Cattle & Cane – Christmas Show – The Middlesbrough Empire with support from Cape Cub – Thursday 22nd December

All the best,

Henry, Andy and Phil

See you on Saturday.

Just Announced:

We’ve had a few people asking when we’ll be announcing more bands…

Well, we were going to wait until next month, but because you asked so nicely, we’re delighted to announce that awesome indie-poppers Marsicans (as seen at Glastonbury earlier this summer) will be performing live on the Teesside University Students’ Union stage alongside previously announced acts including Clean Cut Kid, Cape Cub and Tongues.

Also, James Leonard Hewitson will be performing a pop-up session in one of Middlesbrough’s coolest bars before he goes off to play trumpet with Kingsley Chapman and The Murder.

We’ll announce the final few acts next month. Maybe we should announce some stage times soon too?
